Harness vs. Collar
Which is actually better for the dog – a harness or a collar? There is no general answer to this question, because there are many advantages and disadvantages. But one thing first: Neither the collar nor the harness should be demonized, because every dog and its owner are different and have different needs.
collar
A collar is suitable for older, calmer dogs. However, the absolute basis for this is good leash leadership, i.e. the dog orientates itself to its owner when walking and walks alongside with a loose leash. A tug on the leash can be very painful for your furry friend and constant pulling on the neck is not healthy for your dog's musculoskeletal system. Your dog is deeply relaxed and walks alongside you even when you are distracted? Then a dog collar (e.g. from Trudi & Co.) is definitely the right choice.
So if you have a dog that constantly pulls when you go for a walk, you should first deal with the topic of walking on a leash, train your dog and slowly approach a collar. It can often happen that your dog forgets everything he has learned when he is very excited (e.g. a trip to the city). So it makes sense to equip the dog with a collar and harness so that the harness can be used if walking on the leash does not work so well in these situations.
However, there is one situation where your dog must always wear a harness and that is when you use a tracking leash. Please never combine a leash with a collar , as this can end badly if the dog runs at full speed on the leash and the leash eventually ends.

The harness is particularly recommended for puppies, young dogs and dogs in general that are still a bit impetuous. The biggest advantage of a harness is that it is healthier for the dog when the leash is pulled - as long as it fits properly. So if it doesn't work that well with the leash or you want to be on the safe side, then the harness is definitely the better choice. It is only important that it sits correctly and that the dog's movement is not restricted.
It is therefore absolutely not advisable to use so-called "Norwegian harnesses" and many step-in harnesses, as the freedom of movement of the front legs is restricted. Also, while harnesses with straps are pretty, they are anything but healthy for your dog, since if the leash jerks, all the weight is on the strap.
That's why you only get Y-harnesses made of soft shell from us, which distribute the weight optimally and are therefore very comfortable and healthy for your four-legged friend. It is also important that you set the dishes correctly. So two fingers should still fit between the harness and the dog.
Conclusion
So collar and harness both have their pros and cons. If you can't decide, it's always handy to have both. With us you get a suitable set with poop bag dispenser and leash . Have a look!
